I see ok. thanks, will think about it.You don't need Bing as a new page. If you search using the search box on the New Tab it will result in Bing search and will top up yoiur points accordingly.View attachment 20632

??How'd you pull that off? You can't customize the New Tab Page url!
I am not sure what you mean.
Maybe so, but it does open bing.com
Ok, mostly I use Chrome, and it can be set. I switch between Edge and Chrome so much, I don't even notice.
OK, I see what your saying, look at this extension
Microsoft Edge Addons

How to get rid of msn news page off edge browser? Thanx
That does work, but wont stop it from appearing if you scroll down the page.
I think Bing's politics is horrible, the news feeds are extremely biased against Republicans and is critical in the extreme.
They are obviously supporting all the progressive socialist rags and websites. Very divisive.
Is there anyway to completely block it?
Open In Private browsing. You won't see any news feeds.
There is a Bing search bar, on the page if you wish to use it. I do not use it, as I have my default search set with StartPage.
I created a shortcut on the desktop, to always open In Private. I never open the regular Edge browser.
Disclaimer...I am running Win 10, but see no reason why this wouldn't work on Win 11.
Good luck.
~~~~~
EDIT ~ For this to work, you will have to go to "Settings' > 'Privacy, search and services' > and set to 'Strict'.
Hi, Ethel. I use Firefox also, and had those "pocket" ads until I went into Settings and figured out how to get rid of them.It's partly why I used Firefox :) Which is very easy to set the home page to google or whatever, and use a home button. The only time I get the MSN news page is after signing out of microsoft outlook mail. Then I just hit the home button to get rid of it.
Just go to Settings and click on Home. Under Firefox Home Content, unclick "Recommended by Pocket. All the ads will disappear.
Thank you Edwin.
I didn't know for sure (running Win 11), thus my 'Disclaimer'. Although I do find it a bit odd.
I appreciate the information.
Edwin, I do have my Tracking Prevention set to 'Strict' by default. (In Win 10)
Do you think that may be the difference, perhaps?
No biggie, just curious.
Yep.
Was just coming back to edit my post above. Tested by reverting from 'Strict' to 'Balanced', and it appeared (as shown in your screenshot).
Switched back to 'Strict', and there are no news feeds/ads.
Searching with that box opens Bing online to a similar set-up page as Google. It also counts your rewards.
sdowney,
Toggling it to 'Strict' on the IN Private page doesn't stop the feed, as you have learned.
You need to open a normal Edge Homepage, then at top right of page, click on 'Settings' > 'Privacy, search and services' > and set to 'Strict'.
After doing that, close the page, and open 'In Private'. The news feed will not be showing.
Good luck.
